Do you offer corporate team building classes?
Yes, we do ... The projects are designed to suit individual needs. The cost depends on the project chosen and time taken and venue.. It is possible to do individual projects or make a mural which can be assembled at work. Individual projects - trays, mirrors, plaques The techniques also vary depending on customer needs. Paint techniques, mosaic and gilding are all available.
Do I need to be artistic to do Mosaic?
If by artistic you mean do you need to be able to draw? The answer is no. There are patterns available that can be traced using tracing paper and carbon. This way the design can be easily transferred onto the surface. It is also possible to enlarge the picture by making a black and white photocopy. Being creative helps and most people are. This is reflected in the colours we choose to wear or have around us in our home. The schooling system seems to link being able to draw with being creative. Not everyone can draw but everyone has the potential to be creative.
Decoupage Generally
Decoupage seems to be on the rise again, something I am happy about as I have now been teaching for about 11 years. IT is not just a case of "spoeg and plak" (Mary Denny) but rather a hobby/craft for a serious minded person with lots of patience. Decoupage is also called "painting with scissors" and it truly can be. Choose your picture carefully, cut it out with skill and you have created a family treasure that can be handed down. Don't as a beginners project choose an enormous cupboard, as did one of my students. That is far too overwhelming. It is all in the detail. Select your item, your picture and your paint with care. After all it is going to take you hours and you want to enjoy, not hate, the finished product! Layers and layers of modge bury the picture and give it depth. Finally it will need to be varnished and finished off. Although books are scarce they are available, look through them for the perfect idea. Perhaps like me, you will become addicted!
Antique Crackle
If you are trying Antique Crackle for the first time, be warned it needs a little experimentation first. Use a piece of wood or a piece of board. Paint the surface and then begin your crackle. Usually there is a base coat and a top coat. Sometimes you require two coats of the base coat for it to work. Make sure if there is only one base coat that it isn't too thin and that you do the top coat the same day. Read the instrucutions for the product and if in doubt, or if you are having problems, phone the manufacturer.
My partner has an interest is doing Mosic crfts, but in Port Edward area there are no known craft shops, I am looking for a basic kit to set her up, please advise if you do this or could put me in touch with someone who can.
Kind regards
Peter
